Nestle PH to spend ₱500 M for COVID-19 efforts

By Madelaine B. Miraflor

Food and beverage giant Nestle Philippines has set aside P500 million to provide COVID-19 assistance to as much as one million families and frontliners.

In a statement, the company said it is coordinating with local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) for the distribution of “Kasambuhay Kits” to about a million families nationwide.

‘Kasambuhay Kits’ will consist of Nescafe, Milo, Bear Brand Fortified, Koko Krunch, Chuckie, and Maggi products, Nestle Philippines said.

Nestle said it is coordinating with non-governmental organizations including Caritas Manila, one of the largest church-based non-profit organizations in the country whose core programs aim for the integral human, spiritual, and socio-economic development of the poor.

Earlier this month, Nestlé products were also shared with LGUs and thousands of healthcare workers and other frontliners.

Nestlé Philippines has also contributed P10 million to the Philippine Red Cross for the latter’s own COVID-19 efforts.

The Nestlé donation will help fund the setting up of a testing laboratory, and the purchase of medical tents, personal protective equipment (PPEs), test kits, ventilators, respirators, surgical masks, and other essential health equipment.

Meanwhile, recognizing that people are the most important element enabling operations to continue and products to be made available to consumers, as a food and beverage manufacturer, Nestlé Philippines is also ensuring the safety and welfare of its employees.
