Stringent safety measures assured when commercial flights resume –AirAsia

By MB Online

Travelers will now be required to bring their own masks and wear them properly before, during and after the flight, including during check-in and bag collection, AirAsia said in a statement.

“Guests without a mask will be denied boarding,” it added.

The airline also announced it will have a new cabin baggage policy to facilitate social distancing during embarkation and disembarkation.

Only one piece of cabin baggage not exceeding 5 kg for each guest will be allowed, it said.

“This will help minimize unwanted contact between you and another guest’s baggage and vice versa,” the company added.

AirAsia also said that there will now be temperature checks at different checkpoints, including boarding gates. “And all of our crew will also go through temperature checks after every shift.”

There will be floor markers at queuing areas, including check-in counters and kiosks, as social distancing will also be implemented.

Alternate check-in counters to ensure sufficient distance, as well as contactless check-in processes, will also be observed as part of the new safety precautions.

The airline also assured that all their cabin crews will be wearing protective equipment including masks and gloves.

“Moreover, our cabin crew are all trained with procedures on how to manage suspected patients or passengers who are unwell onboard,” AirAsia said.

“This will be our new normal in the near future, and of course, we hope that the situation will gradually improve soon.”
