Stocks gain on quarantine easing

The local stock market rose again after a weak start as economies overseas start to reopen while quarantine measures in the country may be eased.

The main index gained 46.44 points or 0.84 percent to close at 5,570.22 although the Industrial and Mining & Oil counters retreated. Volume was lower at 2.8 billion shares worth ₱4.47 billion as gainers beat losers 113 to 75 with 39 unchanged.
“Philippine shares rallied higher for another day, despite the battered state of the global economy and rising tensions between Beijing and Washington as investors focused on efforts to reopen more countries for business,” said Regina Capital Development Corporation Managing Director Luis Limlingan.
