Stocks lower as market waits for quarantine easing

Local share prices declined yesterday after the long weekend as the market waits for more cues.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 42.36 points, or 0.77 percent, to close at 5,496.83 with only the Holding Firms counter managing not tonlose ground.

Volume improved to 1.36 billion shares worth ₱5.17 billion as losers swamped gainers 156 to 37 with 35 unchanged.

“Investors remained on the sidelines awaiting the latest update from government on how businesses in general would be conducted after May,” said Regina Capital Development Corporation Managing Director Luis Limlingan adding that most mayors in Metro Manila are supporting the plan to downgrade quarantine restrictions.(James A.
